I was always drawn to belly dance as a youngster, but it wasn't until my early 30's that I took my first class. A housemate had told me I'd like FatChanceBellyDance's style, and since I'd always liked their ad in the local free paper, I decided that was where I'd go. I went in with the attitude that I was doing it for myself, not toward any end goal.
After 4 years of taking classes and performing with the student troupe, I was invited to join the professional troupe, which was a surprise to me, and a huge honor.
At the end of my first year in the troupe, I decided to take it a step further, and start training as a teacher. I was very lucky that my training was one-on-one with Carolena Nericcio, the founder of the troupe, and creator of this particular dance form. A few months later, I started teaching at the studio in San Francisco.
As technology grew, giving us the internet, YouTube, and mobile phones with the ability to record video, FCBD® became more widely known. As more people studied and developed a passion for this dance, FCBD teachers started traveling, to help dancers refine their technique and knowledge of FCBD® style,
At this point, I have taught domestically in several states, and internationally throughout Europe, Russia, Central and South America.
I am available, solo or with Sandi Ball, to travel for workshops, both nationally and internationally. Contact me below for more information.
